GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things
to know.

Do I need an app?

No dedicated app is needed. A compatible NFC phone or a QR-capable camera can open the recovery page in a browser.

What if tapping doesn’t work?

Try scanning the QR code. You can also enter the printed 8-character Tag ID on the Found Gear page.

Does TapMyGear track my gear?

No. TapMyGear is a way for a finder to contact the owner; it does not provide GPS tracking or show a live location.

Are my contact details private?

Anyone who opens an active tag’s link can access the contact options on that page. Call and text links expose the associated phone number, and an email link exposes the email address. This version does not use an anonymous message relay.

What does an inactive tag mean?

The tag has been deactivated and its owner’s contact page is unavailable. If you found the item, leave it with the venue’s staff or lost-and-found desk.

Does the finder need internet access?

Yes. The recovery page needs an internet connection to load.

Can I order a tag yet?

At launch, submit an order request from the Products page. We will confirm availability, pricing, and payment personally. No payment is collected on the website.

How do I update my tag’s details?

Contact the person who set up or manages your tag. Public self-service editing is not available in this version.
